Microdermabrasion New Jersey – The Beaura Spa at The Parker Center for Plastic Surgery
Over time, the effects of aging, sun damage, and environmental factors start to show up on our skin. Dark spots, wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars are just a few of the visible effects. One of the most effective non-surgical methods developed to reduce these signs is microdermabrasion.
The first microdermabrasion system was developed in Italy in 1985. Its development was spawned by a need for a gentler skin rejuvenation treatment with no recovery time required. Women wanted something less aggressive than traditional dermabrasion and chemical peels that required them to take, at a minimum, a day or two off from normal activities.
Introduced in the early 90s in the United States, this skin rejuvenation technique is perfect for mild to moderate skin conditions. As laser resurfacing systems have advanced, some procedures require little or no recovery time as well. However, there are specific conditions in which microdermabrasion is the best choice of treatment.
How microdermabrasion, New Jersey, works
Here at The Beaura Spa, we use the Parisian Peel system which is one of the gentlest systems available today. Very fine particles of commercial-grade rubies and sapphires target the treatment area as directed by a wand. This stream of crystals gently abrade the surface layers of the skin and then the wand suctions the crystals along with the sloughed off skin cells to reveal a new layer skin. With each session, a layer of skin is removed in a very controlled manner.
Because it is so gentle, it can be used on any skin type as long as a skilled aesthetician is performing the procedure. Following treatment, there may be some mild redness, but there is no need for any downtime. You can have a procedure on your lunch hour and be back at work with a refreshed face.
When it comes to microdermabrasion, New Jersey aestheticians at The Beaura Spa, recommend between 4 and 8 treatments to get the desired results. For maintenance and exfoliation, it is monthly or bi-monthly treatments are recommended. For basic skin care, we recommend treatment every 3 to 4 months.

When microdermabrasion, New Jersey, should not be used
Like all cosmetic procedures, invasive and non-invasive, there are some contraindications for microdermabrasion treatment. They are:
- Accutane use (Accutane is an aggressive acne treatment and it should not be used for several months prior to a microdermabrasion treatment.)
- Cancerous lesions
- Active skin infections
Overall, this is an effective, non-invasive, and painless treatment for superficial and mild skin issues. With each treatment, there is a gradual improvement in skin tone and texture giving you a more youthful glow.
